Many who are starting their own internet home businesses are motivated by a dream. In most cases it is the dream of getting rich and becoming millionaires. However, for a majority, this dream remains just that - a dream and nothing more!

Many have tried the myriad of 'make money from home' business opportunities bandied online. But there seems no head way. Some have given up in frustration. Others are only working the routine hoping and praying for fortune to smile on them.

But the truth you must accept today is that you can not continue to do the same thing and hope to receive a different result. There is one and only one formula for success in any business. A fat claim right? But you'll agree with by the time you're through this article.

In a nutshell this formula is:

Knowledge + Positive Action x Persistence = Success

Now allow me expand this briefly.

Knowledge: It is true, you can not rise higher than what you know. Your knowledge determines what you can achieve. One thing you must understand is that those who earn 100 times what you are earning right now are not 100 times smarter or more productive than you. The difference is that they know something which you don't. To produce the same or a better result therefore, you need to learn that "something" which they know.

One thing that many have over looked in their quest for their internet millions, is settling down to learn the basics well. They are easily mesmerized by the hype online. Lured with the promises of instant wealth, with doing little or nothing, they jump at any business opportunity. But all too soon the euphoria evaporates. And the result? Regrets!

To really succeed online as an internet business entrepreneur you must learn the basics, practice them and use them well until you master them, then success will definite come.

Positive Action: This is where many others goof. They never get down to working what they have learnt. Knowing and not putting what you know into action will give you one sure result - remaining where you started. Positive action, please note I said positive action, demands knowing the basics and putting your efforts into producing the right results. You must not just work.

You efforts must be geared towards producing the results you desire. Never be fooled into thinking that producing results in your internet home business is any thing different from any brick and mortar business.

Your internet home business is a business and not some sport. Threat it as a business and the results will please you. The hype of working 2 hours a week and earning millions must be taken with a pint of salt. You must be ready to put in more hours in a day especially when you are just starting out. It is practice that makes for perfection, any day!

Persistence: You need to know from the out-set that success in your internet home business is rarely, if ever, an overnight phenomenon. You must be ready to put in effort, clear hurdles and avoid problems on the way.

You must understand that success is a result of years of failures and restarts. And the things that can fuel such a long drive to success are passion and persistence. You must not give up on your dream no matter the circumstances.

Develop the mindset of the successful and push on to success. Most people, when starting their home internet businesses, are passionate and excited at the dream of freedom. But when the reality of the business sets in the work turns out to be hard and stressful. And soon the passion starts to disappear. When this happens, fears, doubt, worry and visions of disaster set in. Very soon a stress-free salaried job becomes a pretty good option.

If you are faced with this situation, you must take steps to keep your passion alive again. What you need is some good motivation. Grab some inspirational material that will help you stay motivated. Found a group (or a mentor if you have none already) of like minds who can help you to stay motivated. Do everything possible to keep the passion alive.

Conclusion: To build a successful internet business that will fulfill your dream of independence and financial freedom, you require knowledge plus positive action times persistence. Take some moments therefore to once again assess where you are right now. Assess your strengths and weaknesses. Which areas do you need to work on? Do something about it.

If you’re given a choice of making $500 as a one-time payment OR getting only $100 but paid this amount every month, for 20 years if not for life, which would you choose?
If you work only once and get paid many times over, you’re earning a RESIDUAL INCOME. Of course you’d choose the latter.

Elvis Presley to day “continues” to earn residual income even after death because his records continue to “work” for him due to continued demand from his fans.

Therefore it goes without saying that in order to build wealth, you need to tap into RESIDUAL INCOME.

Very often, this is also referred to as “PASSIVE INCOME”, because you could afford to be passive or non-active (i.e. not having to work) and still continue to receive income.
If you're like most people, you've been conditioned your whole life to think about income as a process of trading time and effort for money. A million dollars in 4 months?

As with so many things, the ideas that really 'work' on the Internet are often the most simple. In fact, they are often the ideas that most people would just discard as being too ridiculous to even try (this doesn't just apply to the Internet of course - many great inventors/entrepreneurs have been laughed at in the past only to have the last laugh themselves...).

Anyway, I have been following the story of one such idea over the past couple of months and although I am sure many of you will already be familiar with it, I wanted to share some thoughts with you.

The site in question is called the Million Dollar Home Page. This site was the brainchild of an English guy by the name of Alex Tew. Alex is 21 and back in August was about to start university. Being only too aware of the fact that many students end up finishing their education with huge debts to repay, he decided to try and generate sufficient funds to cover his expenses whilst studying using the power of the Internet.

The basic concept of the Million Dollar Home Page is that website owners can buy advertising space on the home page of the site at a cost of $1 per pixel. The smallest advertising block you can purchase is 10x10 pixels, hence a cost of $100. There are a million pixels available for purchase, thus if Alex succeeds in selling them all, he will have raised a cool $1million!

On the face of it, this is a crazy idea - why would anyone want to pay to put a tiny graphic on a page of thousands of other tiny graphics on the off-chance that someone might click on it? If you had asked me 3 months ago (ie. prior to the site being launched) if I thought it was worth doing, I would have said 'no' (as indeed, I think most people would have done). How wrong I was....
Alex launched the site at the end of August and right away started to try and generate press interest. This approach worked superbly and he has had International press coverage over the past couple of months which has helped to spread the word about his site in the viral manner that is only possible via the Internet. Result? At the time of writing this article, Alex had sold over half a million pixels - yup, that means he has generated over $500,000 in income in just 2 months! At this rate he will achieve his target of selling a million pixels by the end of the year and even if he doesn't sell another pixel, he has still done superbly well.

So what can we learn from this?

Well the first thing is that even the wackiest ideas can work and it doesn't matter how simple a theory may be, it is worth giving it a shot. You don't get much simpler than the idea for the Million Dollar Home Page - in effect, this could have been a one-page site. As it is, Alex has added other pages such as a blog and press release info which helps to make the site even more appealing as people like to read stories such as this as they happen.

Clearly you don't need a 1000 page website with lots of complicated programming running in the background to earn half a million dollars - one page will do it! :-)

The second thing to note is that the way in which the Internet can spread the word about a website is hugely powerful. Admittedly much of the PR that Alex obtained was via television/radio and newspaper articles/features but an enormous amount of the traffic and customers that he has received will have been via people emailing his link to their friends and by hearing about the site from articles such as this one. Remember, all of this 'advertising' is completely free and it doesn't get better than that.

Of course it didn't take long for the copycats to show up and there are now several hundred similar websites online - many of them haven't even bothered to change the style or wording from the original site and have just copied and pasted Alex's work. How lazy can you get? It is a fact that if you have a good idea that makes money on the Internet, sooner or later someone will copy it. I know this from my own experience! What all of these copycats miss is why an idea such as this works - it is a one-off and the only person that is going to make any serious money from it is the guy who was first to the table, ie. Alex. You see this so often both on and offline - how many people are still trying to set up online auction sites that are never going to work because eBay is already too far ahead of the game?

I have even seen several people selling scripts that automate the admin functions of a 'pixels for sale' page so that you can set up your own pixel site without having to manually add graphics/links etc! At least this shows a little imagination and doesn't rip off the original idea completely :-)

In summary, Alex has to be commended for coming up with a brilliantly simple idea and for actually seeing it through. The advertisers will almost certainly be seeing increased traffic since the very nature of the site encourages visitors to click on a couple of graphics 'just to see'. Of course, this traffic won't be targeted and for the most part therefore, will be pretty poor quality but as they say, there is no such thing as bad traffic.

The Million Dollar Home Page is a perfect example of how a basic idea can be let loose online and allowed to generate a small fortune from nothing in a very short space of time. The best ideas are yet to come and to repeat a quote that I used a few months ago, 'Most of the people that will become Internet millionaires don't even have a website yet...'

Three months ago Alex fell into that category, today he has a website and I willing to bet that in a few months time he will also have the $1m to go with it. Will it be your turn next....?

Is It Possible To Earn A Fulltime Income Online?

Most of us have seen numerous adverts promoting programs that will earn us yachts and mansions for only a few dollars investment. Too good to be true? Unfortunately yes. Most of the time you will waste time and money with these programs. So is there a way to make a full time income from only working online a few hours per day?

The short answer is yes but you need to put in a lot more time than a few hours per day to start with. Over the past 6 months I have worked up to 12 hours per day building an income to replace the one I lost when I left my previous job. It takes dedication and focus and slowly but surely your income will grow to the point that you can cut back your hours and get some quality time with your family.

The first thing you need to do is to sit down and have a long hard think about what you want from life. I would bet that most of you will at first think about the fast cars and mansions and the celebrity lifestyles that are depicted in many aspirational adverts. However think harder, these are things you would like to have not what you want from life. If after you’ve thought deeply you decide that you want to see your family grow up, you want to be able to make it to your children’s school concert and not have to work late on that important project. If you decide that you want to be able to take your wife for a romantic lunch before you collect the kids from school then you have the correct frame of mind to start making an income for yourself. If you don’t have a family and you decide you want to be self reliant and not a wage slave then you are on the way. Be realistic and you won’t be disappointed.

Now you know what you want and you know it’s realistic it’s time to get yourself a strategy. I like to think of my income building strategy in terms of building a house, before you put up the walls and roof, the part of the house you can see and admire you need to put in the foundations. The foundation of your income has to be a steady source of reliable income that you can build on. For this I built a number of content websites and monetized them by adding Adverts and Amazon feeds. I write articles and submit them to directories. I do everything I can to get the sites into the search engines and get traffic to them. Once the visitors started coming and I was getting a steady income then it’s time to branch out and work on the 4 walls of our strategy.
The second part of the strategy involves taking some profit from the site building and investing it in well researched programs that have a long history of paying out. You need to do your research and due diligence here and spread the risk among a number of programs if you have any doubts about a program walk away. Now you have your foundation and 4 walls in place it’s time to top it all off with the roof.

The Roof like in your house is the top level of our strategy, this is where you take everything you have learned building your foundations and walls and apply it to your own programs, by now you will know what works, you will have developed a network of contacts through programs and forums and you are ready to develop your own programs.

The great thing about this strategy is that if you have no spare cash you can start out with very little, in fact it is possible to start out with $0.00 and turn this into a full-time income by clever use of resources. If you don’t believe that this is possible then have a look at the blog detailed in the resource box at the end of this article and watch start with $0.00 and prove there is such a thing as a free lunch.

Remember be focused and realistic and a full time income is within your grasp.

Focus - A Big Internet Marketing Success Secret

On a recent "how to" teleseminar, where I was the guest speaker, I was asked how I manage to do so many different things. You see, I have hundreds of websites in different niches. From these websites I sell dozens of my own products, plus affiliate products. The answer to that question, that the entire panel of experts agreed upon, was that FOCUS is the key!

Far too many Internet marketers try to do too many projects at once. They eventually begin to feel overwhelmed, and then never finish most of them. The feeling of overwhelm actually makes you less efficient...TIRED, and less motivated.

It's critical that you develop the ability to operate almost as if you're wearing "blinders" that don't allow you to see off to the side. You need to not even think about unrelated things while working on a project. I do this well partly because I was trained to “compartmentalize” as a military aviator. At times I had to block everything out of my mind except the task at hand… perhaps navigating through very hazardous terrain. There are times when if you’re not successful at the task at hand, other things that follow won’t matter as much!

Many of us operate in information overload. Everyday we get emails, FedEx packages, and phone calls about some product that we just can't miss. You need to learn to say, "Yes - I can miss it! Until I finish this current project, I simply don't need to take on another."

You need to also acknowledge that if you miss some new course, or tool, that's being really hyped-up, there WILL be another one along tomorrow. As fast as things change in Internet marketing, that tool that's being hyped-up today is somewhat likely to be outdated in a few months anyway.

Focus is a habit anyone can develop through practice. You start a project, and pay little attention to things unrelated to that project until it's done. Now, you get the reward of having finished that project. That reward could be another income stream on autopilot, or it could be just the joy of crossing it off of your "to do" list. Each time you get one of these rewards, it reinforces the habit patterns that made the reward possible. Eventually, you develop the ability to really focus, and really get more done, without it being a struggle.

Back to your “to do” list. If having a LONG list just makes you feel more overwhelmed, work from several lists. Have a master list, and then each day pick one or two “must do items” and focus on those. It will make your task ahead seem much less daunting.

Another habit that will aid you in focusing, is learning to delegate and form partnerships. Since a big part of focusing is getting projects completed, learn to only do those things that your are most suited for. It's often cheaper to hire someone else to do things that you don't know how to do well. Having partners adds an accountability factor. Knowing that someone is depending upon you to finish your part of a project will make you stop procrastinating and get it done!

Just as effective as delegating, and often cheaper, is using software to do routine or repetitive tasks. For your email marketing, use autoresponders for example. Use software that automates some parts of building or updating your websites. An example of a piece of software I use to build webpages for selling Clickbank products can be seen here:

Do this, and you'll not only find yourself able to get a LOT more done, you'll find yourself with more free time on your hands. Try not to use that free time to take on too many new tasks. Get proper rest and recreation too. It will make you more efficient and make it even easier to focus because your mind will be clearer.

There are countless books, tapes and seminars devoted to harnessing the desire to make more money. By and large they all have something worthwhile to say and are invariably written and delivered to get you fired up and leave you inspired. However, once the books have been closed and the voices become lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life, the messages and insights that hit you so deep at the time, can sometimes fade to little more than a distant memory. If you ever find this happening, here are a few tips to get you back on track.

1. Know why you want more money

Ask yourself this question;

"If I could lay my hands on all the money I need to do what I want with my life, what changes would I have created around me a year from now?"

Note that I do not ask you to put a figure on the sum of money you want, but rather the changes in your life you want the money to bring about.

Ask most people if they want more money and they will say yes. Ask them how much and mostly you'll get some vague figure or a phrase like 'as much as I can spend'. But if you're serious about creating more money, you have to be more specific than that.

You do have to know how much you want in very precise terms, how you plan to get it and when you want it by. This gives the practical, analytical side of your thinking something to focus on. But that's only part of the equation.

What really accelerates the process of becoming richer is knowing why you want more money, how having it will effect your lifestyle and the kind of changes you expect this to bring about. Get that right and creating the money itself becomes a whole lot easier.

2. Get your thoughts and feelings in tune with your goals.

It's easy enough to sit down in the quiet ambience of a carefully chosen time you set aside to focus on what you want to achieve.

However, there will be occasions when the 'slings and arrows of outrageous fortune' come at you when you least need them. And when they do, you may find yourself bounced off track, causing you to lose your cool and slip back into negative thought and behaviour patterns.

How often have you written out goals and affirmations directed toward changing your financial circumstances for the better, only to find the arrival of a certain brown envelope brings you down to earth with a thud?

It's almost as though the 'real world' has sent an instant messenger to respond to your 'I feel affluent and all my needs are met" rhetoric with "Not according to this!"

The best way to combat this kind of setback is to align your thoughts and feelings with a very real sense that what you are aiming for is on its way to you from the future. But not just some vague, idealistic future that inhabits your hopes and dreams. This is your specific future that you are building in your thoughts, words and deeds right now.

Mystics say that time is an illusion. This may be so, but I prefer to view time as an environment where thoughts and desires can be made manifest. The big question to ask yourself is whether you are prepared to accept what your past has made manifest, or focus on what your future CAN make manifest.

The future you are planning for right now.

3. The only plan worth having is an Action Plan.

This is the point where many people, who try but fail to improve their personal circumstances through goal setting and positive thinking, fall down.

Planning for the kind of future you want and the degree of abundance and prosperity this will hold, will only fuel your hopes and dreams - unless they are practical Action Plans.

One of the clearest teachers of personal prosperity, I've ever had the good fortune to learn from, summed this up in a simple sentence;

"The God Force can't mail you a cheque from the clouds"

What you need is a practical, personal Action Plan that is able to open new ways for you to receive money through the normal channels of our world's monetary systems. You may get unexpected bonuses from unanticipated places along the way, but in order to open yourself to a greater flow of money, you first need to take positive, practical steps to make this a reality.

4. New Paths to Prosperity

So, where do you start to find these new riches?

One place you may want to consider is the very place you're reading this article. The internet. There are now ways to run a profitable online business that you can create and shape to suit your personality and interests.

You don't have to sell out on your personal values and buy into someone else's programme. Learn from others, yes. But then take what you have learned and apply it to a business you can truly call your own.

What is a niche?

HOW DO I FIND A NICHE?

Finding a niche requires diligent research. Whether you have access to software that harvests and sorts information or you take a manual approach you must first start with ideas.
With a pen and paper (or computer, if that's more comfortable) brainstorm a list of businesses, products and industries. Create a list of keywords and phrases you think would be used by individuals looking for these items online.

Use a software program such as Wordtracker or a free resource such as the Overture Keyword Selector Tool to find keywords for your niche that have a high amount of traffic.

Although a program like Wordtracker makes it easy to find details such as how many sites compete for that market, you can also do your own research.

Concentrate your attention on question phrases such as "how do I..." or "where can I...". These questions will clue you into potential markets that need servicing.

Next, look in Google Answers. Type one of your keywords into the search area. What questions are being asked and how much are people willing to pay for answers? If you find a group of keywords with a high number of questions then enter these words in your browser's search engine.

What sites come up? Do they provide answers or solutions to the problem? How are they making money? Can you see an opportunity to service these individuals?

Finding a niche can open the door to a profitable online business. Research the market and be certain that your product or service is valuable to this group. Find forums or groups that target this audience and pay close attention to their concerns.
